Sewing Machine Donation for Women’s Empowerment

The Rotary Club of Karwar Seaside donated a sewing machine to Ms. Bhimamma, a B.Ed. graduate, with the aim of empowering her to become self-reliant and financially independent. Despite completing her education, she has been facing financial hardship while caring for her mother, who is currently undergoing treatment for Stage 3 cancer. This initiative is a small yet meaningful step towards helping Bhimamma earn a sustainable livelihood through tailoring and support her family during these challenging times. The project was generously sponsored by the Rotary Club of Madgaon, whose support made this meaningful initiative possible. Through this collaborative effort, the Rotary Club of Karwar Seaside reaffirmed its commitment to women’s empowerment, self-employment, and compassionate community service, bringing hope and dignity to a deserving family.

Vanamahotsava celebrations

The Rotary Club of Karwar Seaside has launched a week-long Van Mahotsava Tree Plantation Drive to promote environmental conservation and a greener future. The initiative commenced with the planting of a coconut sapling and flower-bearing trees. All club members have been encouraged to plant at least one sapling during the week and share photographs of their plantation activity, making this a collective effort towards creating a greener and more sustainable environment. Felicitation of National level Athletic and his coach

The Rotary Club of Karwar Seaside had the privilege of felicitating Mr. Shivaji Parashuram Madappanagoud, a distinguished athlete from Haliyal, Uttara Kannada, and his Athletics Coach, Mr. Prakash, at a programme held in the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Uttara Kannada. Shivaji has brought honour to the nation by securing two silver medals in the 5,000 m and 10,000 m events at the Under-23 Asian Athletics Championships held in China. The club also recognized Coach Prakash for his dedication, mentorship, and invaluable role in shaping Shivaji’s successful athletic career. The Rotary Club of Karwar Seaside distributed 80 PT T-shirts to the students of Classes VIII, IX, and X at Government High School, Shirwad. Most of the students come from economically underprivileged families, and the joy on their faces while receiving the T-shirts was truly heartwarming. Their smiles reflected how meaningful even a simple gesture of support can be. The donors were equally delighted to contribute towards a cause that directly benefited deserving students. As part of our commitment to supporting rural students, the Rotary Club of Karwar Seaside donated 120 stainless steel plates and tumblers to Government High School, Karwar. Many students at the school come from rural backgrounds, and the school lacked adequate plates and tumblers for the midday meal programme. Cataract Surgery Camp

A total of 20 cataract surgeries were successfully performed under this project, providing the gift of better vision to deserving beneficiaries. The patients also received post-operative eye drops and refreshments to support their recovery. The surgeries were skillfully performed by Dr. Prashanth Achar, while the post-operative eye drops were generously sponsored by Rtn. Krishnanand Kolvekar. As cataract surgery in private hospitals typically costs between ₹25,000 and ₹40,000, providing these surgeries completely free of cost brought immense relief to the beneficiaries. The patients expressed heartfelt gratitude and happiness, making this project truly meaningful and impactful for everyone involved.

To mark the beginning of Rotary Year 2026–27, the Rotary Club of Karwar Seaside, Rotary Club of Karwar, and Rotary Club of Karwar Pashchim jointly organized a Mega Blood Donation Camp at KRIMS Blood Bank, Karwar. The programme was held in the presence of Assistant Governor Rtn. Shivanand Naik. Nearly 50 units of blood were collected through the generous support of voluntary donors. All blood donors were presented with certificates of appreciation and provided refreshments in recognition of their noble contribution.
